Cruise Control No Workie

The cruise control on my '95 2500, 2WD has not worked for over a year. I did some testing some time back and thought it might be the Servo. These seem to be available on eBay for $50 or so. What does the servo do exactly? What else could it be? It's not the fuse nor the controls (I don't think).

I was under the impression those years used the vacuum operated cruise control system. If thats true then start looking for vacuum leaks or broken/cracked/rotted lines.

I did that a year ago, but I'll do it again. I wasn't sure when I did it that all the lines were intact, but they seemed intact. I'll take a strong light and look at them again.

Again, I'm not fully sure how your 1st gen truck is setup compared to the 2nd gen trucks but if they're anywhere similar, the vacuum pump should be measuring in the range of 20-25 and there may be a vacuum pod diaphragm located somewhere which controls the cruise control. On the 2nd gen its found under the drivers side battery which can become subject to leaking acid and eat holes in the plastic vacuum line.
Other than that, some of the rubber lines and rubber connections for the plastic sections can deteriorate from age and become porous. A cheap vacuum test gauge will help you chase leaking vacuum lines/fittings. If thats what the problem is.

Mine is a 2nd gen truck. It's a '95. But I've run Optima batteries for 12 years now, so no leaking battery acid. I'll come up with a vacuum test gauge. Thanks.

My bad..... Not sure what I was thinking. Of course yours is a 2nd gen. So that said, the vacuum lines should be very similar. Another give away that there's a potential vacuum leak is if the HVAC vent selection dont control very well or always default to the defrost vent.

No, the HVAC vent selection works great.
