Cruise control acts whacky
Our cruise control works, but it acts up. Sometimes when you hit set or resume/accelerate, the truck starts speeding up up up! It's quite disconcerting [eyecrazy] I hit the brakes, or cancel, set again, a few times before it sticks at the speed you are trying to set. It's like it has to get warmed up or something! Is this a servo problem or elsewhere in the CC system?

Clock spring
My 98 did the same thing. It was the clock spring. It`s under the steering wheel. easy to change. Don`t know if that`s your problem but I hope this helps.

Mine totally quit and I cant find any problems at all must be in the column..

clock spring
Could be, It looks like a hockey puck with some wires comming out of it, they were a common problem in those years.

Mine does it more when its cold out. If I hit the set button twice, at the right speed---HOLD ON!! it floors it!

I've always read to check the lines going under the driver's battery as the culprit.

Same problem here.. id be curious to know the fix.

Mine does the same thing, I told my wife that the button I just pushed was the nitrous button :o .
Funny thing is she thought I was serious, and that I have way too many gadgets on my truck [laugh] . ................Jim |
Sounds like a little vacuum leak.
Check the servo under the battery, vacuum lines running along the cowl, check for cracks, loose connectors. phox |
