Convert to single wheel???
1 Attachment(s)
I need some opinions. The bottom line is that I've got a dually and don't need one. I bought it for the four doors and I love the truck. But it's really long and I would like to put some bigger tires on it.
So, I am thinking about knocking the duals off and changing the bed to go to single wheel and going with some 35" tires. I can't do 35's the way it sits now. For one, I don't really want to run a spacer between the duals. And in PA, they can be strict about tires sticking out past the flares. Is there anything else I should consider? resale value? give me your opinion on looks. is the truck too long to be a single wheel? Thanks! Jason |
That is a sweet truck you got there. It probably would look nice as a single wheel too, but personally I would leave it the way it is. Look around the 2nd gen forums there is usually somebody looking to convert a single to a dually, and there are a couple threads about everything that is involved in the swap.

Thanks fiveology. I think if I leave it a dually, I might change to regular offset front wheels. I don't really like the dually front rims.

Nice Truck!!!!!! I'm jealous, I'll trade you a 01 CC 4x4 single wheel?

That truck looks nice...real nice. I'd bet you could trade it for a 4-door 3rd gen in a heartbeat. No sense in messing up a perfectly good (and rare) truck just because you don't care for the extra wheels out back and the offset up front.

thanks for the offer Tommy, but I sold an '01 quad short bed for this truck. I think the wife might actually kill me if I sold this for another '01 [laugh]
TexasHardcore, I think you are right and I am going to leave it as a dually. I'm going to throw some 255/85's under it a call it a day. I still think I'm going to ditch the front rims for the single wheel style (like this month's truck of the month). Thanks for the opinions guys. Jason |
