Cluster light confusion. Go out when shifting

So I did a thing and bought my first Cummins. 2000 2500 2wd 5spd. 257k miles. Single cab long bed. Awesome work/tow truck. I was fixing a few small things and one was replacing bad/burnt fuses. The “illum” fuses 5amp was burnt. No dash lights across. Truck does have after market gauges. Fuses was replaced and lights worked. 30 secs and popped the fuse. Replaced with 10amp and they work long. But I noticed once i started driving the lights go out and come back on. Then noticed as I throttled up to shift, when I would depress the clutch and shift that’s when the lights would go out then come back. After awhile the 10amp fuse blew. So do the aftermarket gauges require a larger fuse? Something to do with the clutch being depressed or the RPMs going up and dropping? Any ideas

First thing, no bigger fuses, if it blows you have an issue. I would almost bet that if you remove the knee bolster you will find wires strung across the clutch pedal and being rubbed when you push in the clutch. Start there.

that did the trick. When they put the pillar gauges in they ran the wire over the clutch. How dumb
