Center Console

Has anybody ever removed the center seat section and just installed arm rests on the seats? I was thinking about doing that but I don't know where or if I can find the arm rests that mount on the sides of the front seats.

Normally arm rests are built into the seats not as add on items unless you tear your seat apart to add the arm rest pivot to the seat back support

Just get a cup smoothie from Geno's and you will have a whole new feeling about your console.

It is only four nuts to take the thing out. You can remove the seat belt unit from the bottom and put it under the drivers seat. You can get an idea from that what you want. I remvoed mine long ago. I am big and like the more open area. I always felt cramped with all that in the middle.

Why can't you just fold it back out of the way or are newer ones fixed in the down position?

We remove our when we go on long road trips. We have a cooler that fits snug in the mounts and it also give my daughter some extra leg room. I would prefer having flip down armrests too rather than the center seat/council.

I like having the arm rest but I would like a bit more room. I think flip down arm rests would be the way to go. I have seen a few seats with them on it. I don't think they would be that hard to install either. I guess I could call the dealer and see if they have them.

The "arm" would have to be attached to our existing seat Toby as we have the seat belt integral to the seat itself. Dealer isn't going to have anything like that.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing with the exception of building a center storage area/subwoofer/arm rest. Sort a multi funtion unit. Anybody else do this?

The police package 2nd generation rams came with the center console delete from the factory, you may want to check a junkyard that may have a old wrecked police package 1/2 ton. I think had arm rests.
