cb radio issues

recently installed a cobra 29 in my '01, the issue is that the radio works fine untill I start the engine and then I have no reception at all. The signal on transmit seems to be fine but can't receive at all. Any thoughts or suggestions,,,,,,,,,thanks,Mike

Simple things may resolve your problem. Have you determined if the noise is getting in via the antenna/coax or through the power leads? Different remedies for each are available....

Although before anything, can you describe "no reception at all"? Noise covering up all signals? No noise at all? etc.....

Do you have an EGT gauge? Found my Isspro EGT gauge's electronics caused a tremendous amount of RFI in the 220 and 2m ham band, no amount of filtering would eliminate it completely. They did make things right by replacing the gauge with a non-electronic at a greatly reduced price.

Mow that's peculiar, I've never heard that before.... where do you have power coming from for the radio? Both leads going straight to the battery as reccommended or to the fuse panel/cig lighter etc?

Do you have the ability to check the voltage at the radio with the truck started and not?

Do you have another radio to hook up to see if the issue can be replicated?

Does the meter move, like it is receiving but you can't hear it?

Have you tried a different mic?

power straight from the battery,13.3 volts when truck is running at the radio cord end. The meter moves when I key the mike but no incoming movement on scale.I noticed today that it does pick up interference when I get near overhead power lines, just a lot of static though
