Car Alarm Misery
 

I bought my 1995 truck in 2000 with 56,000 miles on the odo. I have 475,xxx on it now and its never let me down. The previous owner had a Code Alarm, car alarm installed on it. I haven't used that alarm in 15 years, but this morning it decided to go off in the Walmart parking lot when I opened the passenger side door. I don't even carry the alarm clicker any more and haven't for probably 10 years. Well with the alarm going off, it has disabled the starting circuit and the truck won't turn over. So I had it towed home, and now I'm trying to figure out how to either disable the alarm, or wire around it. Any advice is welcome.

Success! I dug around in an old toolbox, and found a clicker for the car alarm. Went to O'Reillys and got a new battery for it, and IT WORKED!!! Whew!
Earlier, I had looked around under the dash for the alarm box--I was going to rip it out, but I couldn't find it.

So now I'm trying to get my clicker duplicated. I called a local auto stereo place, but they wanted $150 to duplicate it. Sounds a little extreme to me.
