A/C Repair: Dealership or Other

Every summer I have had to have the A/C recharged at the dealer and they have never found a leak, well once they replaced a $300 hose and said that was it. It lasts exactly 3 weeks and then is warm again. I can't take it anymore. Are there any well recommended chain-type repair shops that do good work or is the dealer the best place?

Had to have my A/C worked on last week. It works now, but low and behold I pop the hood to put my amsoil air filter in and my air filter housing isn't even secured and the nuts are missing to hold it in place.

Helps if you fill out your location, perhaps you live close to a member here who could steer you in the right direction.

Seems like you should be raising cane with the dealer is their fix doesn't last. That should be under warranty if they certify no leak and it doesn't last.
If you go to a local shop it's potluck most of the time. Now and then you'll find a mechanic that knows his stuff and will do the job right. As far as I know, this is trial and error. One of my friends, a mechanic, has customers who follow him wherever he works because they know how hard it is to find someone they can trust.
Have they charged the system with dye yet? That would be a good indicator to find that leak. Just cross your fingers it's not the evaporator. Huge pain to replace.

Leak in your a/c system?? According to some on this site, this stuff is the solution and should be your FIRST STEP in diagnosing/solving your a/c leak problem. If it works (and unless you have BIG holes it will), great. That's the best $50 you'll ever spend. If it doesn't, you know it was going to have to be replaced anyway....

Yea you need to post where you are at it will help. Somebody may know somebody close or a member might even be willing to do it. IF it does have dye look for the yellow glow if it don't look for any oily hoses or connections. If you don't find any probaly is the evaporator. Like said before it is a major pain. You pretty much have the hole dash out of truck.
