The blower under the dash passenger side is growling and squealing. It also is only working on the highest speed. Whatsoever all involved to change it out? Also are the ones from oriely's or similar good units? Or is this one of those items to get from the dealer?

 

o'riley is a good place to get it. not hard to get out. once out get on o'rileys web and enter the motor, i had a little trouble i had to use somthing like heater motor or blower motor to get it to come up. it will give about 4 pix of units used in the 02 just compare and it will even tell you if it is in stock. the drag has also caused a heat fuse to open up, it is located with the resistors for the speed it has been 4 or 5 years since i replaced one on a vp44 truck to tell you exactly where it is but i think it is by the blower botor and the wires from the motor is connected to it. remove the boardand there is a small silver cylinder about 3/16 in diameter and 1/4" long with a wire on each end. if you check continuity i think you will find none. go to radio shack and get one. they have them for appliances and is rated in degrees, i pick a range around 270* it is about $2

 

I had to replace my hvac blower about a year ago. A bunch of folks on here strongly recommended I stick with the Bosch motor from the dealer. The price difference between aftermarket and dealership was small so I stuck with the dealer part. The change takes about 15 or 20 minutes, if you don't have to do the job twice There is a foam gasket between the motor and the airbox and that I didn't notice on the old motor until after the new one was installed. Moral of the story - make sure you swap the gasket when you do the installation. I seem to remember I had to use a couple of long extensions with universal joints to get to some of the screws that hold it in place and I had to take of the plastic panel by where the passenger's right foot rests.
