Re:Braking Power

You can always run around with a Powerjoke or Duracrack in the bed and just kick it out as an anchor whenever you want to stop

Without going to rear disks or bigger front disks the best you can do is use bigger rear wheel cylinders. You should already have the 15/16" in your 1-ton but I think you can run 1" ones from an older Dodge truck. I checked into this recently for adding larger ones to my brother's 77 W200 and found that the cylinders cross all the way up till 2003 in the regular sizes - you can even get 1-1/4" for older Dodges that should bolt in ours, but they are really designed for the larger industrial chassis like my 74 Winnebago that have bigger, wider brakes.

Check around for rear disk conversions to go to the newer Dodge setups.
Re:Braking Power

Are the 03's front rotors bigger than the 01's? If I upgrade rotors, it will be to some bigger ones that are slotted. Maybe a set of Baer brakes?
