Brake line diagram
Brake line diagram
I blew a line, about in the frame section about in the middle of the fuel tank. I won't fix it, I'd like to replace the whole line. The question is, why did the line break? There. Broken clip that allowed movement and chafing? Will have to look into that. But I need to know what the line looks like, where the clips are and, well, how much of a edit it will be to change out.

It probably rusted out. You'll need to drop the tank to replace it.
See if you can find diagrams here

Will he have to drop the tank, or will he be able to slide the brake line along the frame? When I replaced my line from the front block to the rear axle block, I did it from underneath and worked it along.
Ooops, forgot about the one along the frame rail behind the fuel tank. I had no box on my truck when I did mine so I could just reach down and un-clip.
The line was repaired by my local shop. They did note on the RO that all the lines were ripe for replacement. They would have to have at least moved the tank to fix as the break was directly behind it. They quoted around $900-$1000 for a complete line replacement. Both front hoses, rear hose and lines. The hoses obviously have part numbers but what about the lines? Does it make sense to just buy straight line (how long?) and bend it myself? Anyone know such things?
A quick search on the internet and ThePartsBin.com has replacement hoses (2 front and one rear) for < $100. Local shop quoted me almost $300 for those.
