brake calipers

I will put the one ton cylinders on the rear, as it should be as good upgrade. I read in a previous post, but not alot of response, the 3500 uses the same pads & rotors as the 2500,
but the calipers on the 3500 provide a better braking system. So the question,
Is it a good idea to switch my calipers to the 3500 series, or will I be causing more problems that I don't know of yet? Thanks for the help

Could be mistaken but think the front calipers are the same on a 2500 as a 3500
Since you are in WA the best place to ask and buy brake parts is here (360)357-4958

I just wanted to be certain you're talking about the Chevy 1 ton cylinders, not just the Dodge 1 ton cylinders. They'd be an upgrade for your but the Chevy 1 tons are even larger.

I have planned on using the Chevy 1-ton napa #, however I was told that the Dodge 1-ton cylinders are also the same 1 1/16 size.

If I recall correctly, 1-ton Dodge are 27mm diameter bore where as the 1-ton Chevy are 30mm. While it sounds minute the difference is huge.

The GMC cylinders will give you 23% more stopping power than the Dodge 3500 cylinders.
This is a very noticeable difference and an excellent mod even for 3500 Dodges.

Wasnt he was asking about differences in calipers, anybody know anything about them?

And its an intesting question concerning other caliper options for the fronts of 3/4 ton front ends. I will say the single piston calipers suck IMHO.

I looked at using the ford knuckles out on my 98 to get slightly larger dual piston calipers etc but thats not what your after either.

keep us posted, good luck

Thanks for all the help so far. Did my brakes using the Napa cylinder, much larger than the Dodge 1-ton. Used semi metalic pads on 2500 calipers, new fluid, works great, thanks again. Replaced my trans connectors, used the orig lines, just put the new metal screw in connector on, I hope this is ok, less expensive than replacing all the trans lines. Now I have the kdp tab kit, so thats next. Question, What is the opinion of the brand of hoses & belt to use. Should I stay with Mopar or Napa or ?

Any particular reason why Napa is favored? Most of my parts I buy online, what I can't get there for my cars I normally get at AutoZone because it is closest and the people are normally alright.

I started using Napa because their remanufactured parts seemed better and they give a big discount when you open an account.
You can also buy online from them. www.napaonline.com
