boost problem
2000 CTD driving home the other day and was accelerating to get on highway, heard a "pop" like a balloon and then noticed more diesel smoke when the engine would load up. seemed to have less power and my boost gauge shows no more than 5psi at highway spped going up hills.
Going to check my intercooler connections, any thing else to check. truck drives normally just smokes alot more.

Me bet is one of the lower boots ripped where they tend to rub against the inner fender next to where they go into the intercooler.

Ruptured boot, as Oliver suggests. is most likely - but don't rule out the possibility of the intercooler itself rupturing one or more tubes, or the ends

back in october I swapped my hydro boost and PS pump. i had removed four clamps and the intercooler tube from the drivers side for working room. Reinstalled it all and had been find 'till the other day. Raised the hood and bam there it was, I found the lower upper clamp had slipped below the boot letting most of the boost to bleed out there. Repositioned clamp and checked boot for damage it was ok, checked all clamps in that area and test drove truck. Back to normal now thanks for the fast replies!
