If your rotor and hub are two piece (late 99). I don't remember when the cut off date was.

Late 99 and later only need the caliper bracket (@ 59.00 Dealer) and late model rotors. Don't forget the bigger wheels.

This is what I'm doing next month.

Good luck

Mark

what year did they upgrade since 03? i thought the 06/07 had better brakes.
and my 17x10 wheels from my 02 WILL NOT fit my 07 without some serious grinding!!!! more than 1/4 inch into the caliper. so if they haven't upgraded the post about needing 17's you might need 18's depending on the wheels!

Do you think it's because your '02 wheels are aftermarket?

This is AWESOME, thanks guys. I had already purchased 2001 pads, but had not bought rotors yet, so looks like I will just get some rotors from a 3rd gen and the caliper brackets and be good to go. This site rocks! I already have 17" H2 wheels.

Ordered new rims and tires today. Will be ordering caliper brackets tomorrow.
What are the best front pads to use and has any one used those dust shields to keep the brake dust off the wheels?

Trying to get this done but ran into some issues. Need help. Does any one live near a wrecking yard with late model trucks or have a friend with an 03 that you can check compatibility for the dust shield and caliper bracket. They list 4 different part #s and no way to check which one is correct. If part is correct then all we need is a VIN # and its done. So Please help if you can.

Yes!

I'm finally going to get this done, Big Front Brakes. Just ran in to some issues.

My brother owns a 2003 and he said I could check his out tomorrow.

I have to do my brakes

I've been wanting to do the big brake conversion for a long time as well. I went as far as going to dodge and a local body shop to get the assembly diagrams. From what I could tell, they looked pretty much the same but there are a few parts that have changed (may not make a difference - the speed sensor location and tone rings are different). The diagrams are worthless when it comes to determining the fit. Without actually having the parts on hand ($$$) I could not determine if the bracket/rotor parts are compatible with the late 99 - 2002.5 will work with 2003+.

In any event, its hard to take the gamble... the dodge techs said they are different and not compatible - but that's the "canned answer" that they are supposed to give. They cited that the American Axle setup is totally different than the Dana. I can still smell the BS in their breath...

I'm anxious to hear of your experience Mark. Is it a go? I'm getting chatter right now, so I will be doing my brakes this weekend. I would like to go with the late model 13" brakes - already got the 17" rims on Let me know how you fare with this upgrade.

Thanks!

Ran out of time to pull my brothers brakes (2003), but I did measure them and they look the same. I should have time on Friday afternoon. I'll let you know, I did find out that the parts from Dodge are a day away.

Thanks for your reply. If you took measurements, that might be all I need to jump in as well. My neighbor down the street has a megacab - I think it has the same brakes we're talking about. I'll take some measurements too, if he's around.

I had a PM going with "ddestruel" back in March of '06 about this. I'll ping him to see if he ever got around to swapping his brakes.

Thanks again

If this works my concern is what is the minimum inner wheel diamiter needed to clear the new setup? My 17" allum H2 wheels seem to have about the same inner diamiter as the factory steel 16" wheels. I really need to be able to run both of those wheels.
