Best shocks for the buck
 

I need to replace shocks on all corners- it is a 98 Quad cab dually 4x4 12v- what is the best bang for the buck in a towing/cruising capacity?

I am curious about this one too, but my truck is a 98 2WD dually.

I went cheap and bought these, I guess there Moroe sensatracs or something like that. I bought them about 10-15 thousand miles ago and they are worn out. They rode real good when i put them on. I see some heavy to moderate off-road alot, not to mention bad county roads that haven't seen new pavement since the 70's, on top of heavy towing and a 7000# truck. Those poor shocks don't stand a chance[laugh] . Dont get me wroug, I am not putting them down. They ride real good when you are highway driving, but a little to "mushy" offroad. I dont think they were designed to do what i do with my truck. I'm going to go with Rancho RS9000's this time.

The Skyjacker Hydros that I am running have served me very well now for over 20,000 miles! Not all that expensive.

I should also mention that I have dual shocks up front - that has made a very big, and pleasant, difference!

I can't honestly say if I will look to change brands when the time comes to replace them.

I bought my Rancho 9k's back in April. You guys looking for shocks missed out on a heck of a deal too. 4 shocks for $218.00, to my back door!!

Samsoffroad.com is where I got mine. In April they have a buy 3 get 1 free, & free shipping. Eventhough they dont have this deal right now, they have the best prices on Rancho's that I could find.

This is just my experience.........plus they ride like a dream!

I got the same deal Palmetto. Picked them up from UPS yesterday. Looking foward to getting them on the truck. Sam's IS the place.

I was torn between the bilsteins and the RS9000's. The special pricing was the difference for me. That and I have adjustable Tokicos on my Z and like that feature.

hey i need new shockz up front, so bad they made my tires go flopy. are the rs9000 the ones that you can change with the in cab nob? how are the for 65+ mph on the road?

I just put some cheap monroe shocks on the front of my truck, and they seem to do fine. From what i could tell, the ones on it were originals. The monroes were only $25 a piece at O'Reillys(spelling?) auto parts. I didnt think that was too bad myself.

If you buy the in cab controller, then yes.

CruisingRam, I put a set of Pro-Comp ES-9000's on my old Chevy and was very happy. I thought the price was pretty good at around $130 for 4. When I put the leveling kit in my Ram I went with Tuff Country and was very dissapointed. Very stiff ride. CJ

Don't the Ranchos or Skyjackers have a lifetime warranty on them?

Palmetto Kid-I am kicking myself, and have been ever since their deal went out, for not getting those Ranchos when they had the deal on them. Mine are shot, but now it is like $300+ for a set of four ugh![eyecrazy]

I'll sell you my stockers CHEAP ;-). They weren't worn out, just not up to the task of my load. Then you can buy the Ranchos next year when they go on sale.

BTW...installed mine this evening. Haven't driven it yet.

I know some folks had problems with the top nut..mine went slick. I shot some WD-40 on the front top nut, then replaced the rears. Once done with the rears, the front nuts were a breeze.

I was looking at my truck shock's today- has rear airbags in the back for hauling a fifth wheel- no markings whatsoever on the shocks that I can read- have no idea what is on there- they are white, and that is about it!
