back at the well of knowledge

talked to my brother and his 97 ctd one ton 4x4 is giving him a fit. ac, cruise , tach, alt, speedo are all dead. from my search sounds like the sensor on the front of the crank would be the best bet. of course grounds, plugs and wire looms are all suspect. going up to his place this weekend would like to help him out with a cure. he just got it out of the local tire shop for brake repair would it be related? any light on the subject would be nice . thanks again . farmer0_1.

Sounds like the crank sensor to me too. Check the clearance between it and the damper, should be around .025" or so.

Crank sensor spec is .049/.051.

Check the wiring, perhaps they smacked it somehow at the shop.

Good to know. My 12v was set quite tight then.

ok i have a good guy at my brother checking thing out and said gap looked good and that the sensor had a three prong plug , does that sound right. he got continuity thru the sensor plug side of things , not real clear on which of the three he found what. they wiggled wiring and cleaned up the plug and no work he is asking about a couple of relays on the firewall clicking . anyone have a wiring schematic and the values of what the wires should read coming and going from the sensor and back and forth to the computor.?? kind of hard explaining third party doing my best.
