According to alldata, it is located on the left side of the trans, below the gear shift tower, half way down the side. Good luck.

Thank you. That will save me a lot of "looking".

Well, I crawled around under the truck and couldn't find the backup light switch. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but didn't find anything on either side of the tranny. I checked the fuse and it was good. I pulled one of the tail light assemblies and found that there is no power to the BU light socket.
I'm sure it's the switch and will do a little more looking today.

Hemi Cat is almost right...

Driverside of the transmission... Just below the base of the base of the gear shift tower. (Skip the half way down) It the only thing that wires are going to...

This is where I made my jump for the manual reverse switch for my stick...

Holy-Moly! I could handle that for a few days, and then it's back to good ol' WARM Texas.

Well, I suckeditup and went and craweled back under there and I think I found it. It looks like it has a brown and a purple/brown wire going to it. When it warms up to about 70* this afternoon, I'll go back and check the voltage at the plug.

Yeap that be the switch... I pretty sure of the Violet/Black wire is the feed to the tail lights and the brown lead is +12V from the fuse panel.

Now suck it up again and get out there and check it with a DVM or test light. It will only take a minute or two... Geez...

To check the circuit quick... Make a jump between the two contacts in the plug the reverse lights should come on...

BTW did you check your fuses for this problem?

I unplugged the switch, and it has juice going to it. It's too much of a pain in the rump to try to replace it, so I guess I'll wait and go with something after market and a switch under the dash.

Thanks for the help.

Are you just installing Backup Lights? If so, I highly recommend just tapping the wire at the taillight. I personally wouldn't want to be accessing wires under the truck. There's a page on my site (link below in my sig) with pictures and instructions from the installation.

Nothing new....yet. I'm trying to get the factory ones working.
Those are nice looking lights on yours. Will they fit under a factory bumper?
