Any Idea?

Hey

Truck is 2001.

This weekend drove the truck early in the morning. Was cold out so I had the heater on.

I could definately smell coolant when the heater was on.

I can't smell any coolant with cold air blowing, or if the fan is off.

I cannot find any leaks around the motor/hoses/headgasket/ect...

Would this be a the heater core leaking?

If not, what else could this be?

The truck sat outside for most of the winter, (only driven bout once/month), is it possible it cracked through the cold weather? We saw temps as low as -40 deg. C this year...

Thanks

I'm currently experiencing the same thing, except my truck is a daily driver. I'm planning on taking the time to change the heater core this summer, while I've got the dash out for a replacement. I can't find a leak either, but this is what I suspect.
