Alternator bearings

I have a squeak on start-up only. After I drive for a while it stops and I suspect it is a alternator bearing from where it is coming from I was away from home when it started but am back. It charges fine. Has any one ever replaced the bearing and brushes and how hard is it to get the bearings off. I haven't checked it out good yet but will tomorrow and all pulleys. I can order a kit from genos for $35.00 or get a new (not rebuilt) Remy alternator for $122.00. I don't know anything about the remy.
It might just be the belt I replaced it in 2010

Could be the idler pully too. Mine sqeeks for a minute or so when I first start it up. I usually only run the truck about once a week.

It was the waterpump. I checked every pulley and they were smooth as silk and quite. Then the water pump. It did not sould like a bearing but like the seal was to tight. And it had just been on the truck a month.

I just picked up a OEM water pump from cummins, way better constructed than the local parts store one that I looked at, twice the cost but well worth it

Thats what I should have done. No local place to get a cummims and I could not wait a week to get it. I was looking yesterday to see where the cummins was built China, Turkey or US my luck if I ordered one it would not be built in the US. The one that came on it lasted 60K the next one lasted 63K If I get that much out of this one I will be happy but thats a big IF. The one I put on was built in Mexico
