Yup, same exact issue. Of course thats in my 1500 xlt. Finally got sick of the stock junkers and replaced 'em with aftermarkets. No problems after that.

Pop your door trim off and take a peak at the connection. The way the door is designed a small amount of water actually comes in the door and drains out the bottom. Early 98.5 and 99 trucks had this problem.

A revised speaker (with a rain cap) was issued, but only when a unit was taken in under warranty.

Obviously you are out of the warranty period so you'll want to find the bad/corroded wires at the connection and either clean them up or bypass the connection altogether and make your own. Just make sure to seal the new connection up very good and you'll be fine.

Replace the speakers, the stock speakers are junk.

Mine did something similar until I replaced them. Even considering that one must have been broken, there was a significant improvement in sound quality. Well worth it. You don't need particularly expensive ones - I recommend Panasonic. Paid $160 CAD for both front and rear.

My PS speaker did it also. I popped the panel off, checked the wires and found a partial break. cut and re-soldered. Works great now.
