AC Leak Detection
Ok......resigned to the fact I may have to do the dreaded evaporator replacement but I want it to be an absolute last resort.
Can I see AC dye flourece with a "black light"? more specificly, the kind you may have used as a kid (or not) on posters to make them glow.
Just want to be sure......

also, if you use a leak detector, run the 'sniffer' on the bottom of the lines. freon is heaver then air. and, to test the evap without removing anything, place sniffer in the floor and center dash vents( ac on fan low).

if the evaporator is in fact leaking, how can you see the dye with a black light without taking the dash off? is it possible or do you just check everywhere else first, and if nothing else leaks it must be the evap?
