9004 bulbs

:) I want to know if a 80/100 watt bulb will be ok or would it possibly generate too much heat for the plastic lens. I'm interested in upgrading. Thanks

Re:9004 bulbs

I just bought some 80/100's for my truck made by Matrix, had them on for 2 days and held both bright and dim on and blew the right bulb out. Be careful who you buy from, these were only $25 for the pair, so I don't feel too bad. I will say the 80/100 combo is good for folks that have bad eyes at night like I do.

I bought some Sylvania Cool Blues and much better and whiter. They are also not requiring more power than the factory wiring is rated for. Only $9 per light.

anybody looked into these

http://www.piaa.com/9000seriesbulbs.html

I was thinking of getting a set says they're equivilent to a 95/120 .....

so the heat would be down and the current draw would be lower too so you don't burn up your headlight cct

I'll have to phone and see what they're worth ........

I have PIAA in my 93 and my 96.

The 9004 PIAA's are a little expensive and I don't know that I would buy them again. They are the Extreme Plus bulbs and were $132 CDN... The beam quality is better and the light is whiter and appears brighter, I just can't speak in quantitative terms.

The PIAA ads are a little miss leading.. I remember a good post on the TDR about lights and how a company studies all the bulbs coming out and finding that the hyper-white bulbs aren't all they are made out to be. The "brightness" to the eye is due to the extra blue hue, not more wattage.

Its all a matter of opinion I guess. But I have found the Cool Blues by Sylvania are about as bright as some of the low end PIAA.

Good luck on the search for better bulbs. Anything is better than the stockers IMHO...LOL..

J-eh

Ive had the PIAA's and the Hella's, I don't think I'd buy PIAA's again, kind of expensive, I do like the hella's allthough they are up there too. Just seem to be a better light for the money to me. Same goes for the aftermarket lights, as the bulbs.
