I think the issue on mine at this point isnthe box needs adjusting, i can have my son move the wheel quite a bit with no movement at the pitman arm, once the slops out of the box i think ill be good, time will tell

not a smart guy...but somewhere, in the millions of threads on this, I read about rotating the axle/pinion upward downward to change the caster, has your alignment shop talked about that?

are you going to a franchise store for your alignment, or a good ole boy who has been doing it his whole life? I seem to get better results from good ole boys who do just alignments.

04CTD, we don't have any old school type alignment shops here. most are big chain. as far as rotating(adding caster) I can probably squeeze a little more but I'm over 4 degrees now. It really hasn't improved the control. Its the oddest thing, it never did it with the old y steering and the slop up front. I'll be dropping it off at the diesel shop next week and they're going to put it up on the rack. But thanks for the input, I would not consider any ideas at this point being smartas*! I just want it fixed.

I put a $175 steering box on from Advance, need to take a trip.

lifetime warranty, so if it lasts a year, I will plan ahead & get one of the big $$ boxes ordered & ready to install.

i was surprised my 2001 drives so good with the Y-steering. it drives like "an old truck" now, not like a shopping cart on crack.

here's where I ended up:
$400 for 4 ball joints.
$175 NAPA track arm - lifetime warranty
$175 Advance steering box.
$75 alignment

I think the Tie Rod ends on my Y-steering has been rebuilt recently, so i got lucky on that.
new tires & rims, all new shocks & steering stabilizer.

here's what I still need to make it drive "right" at some point:
$600 steering gear box.
$350 T-steer set up
$100 cross brace
-replace Track Arm under warranty (be broke after year or so, right?)
$70 alignment

Steering upgrade for 2002 cummins 4x4

Hey y’all I’m new to this here. I have a 2002 4x4 cummins. I here all this talk about 4th gen steering upgrade. I don’t here much about the 02 years will it work for my truck.
