2001Clutch Pedal Problem

I have a Pretty major wear problem at the pin on the swing of the clutch and break pedal. Are there any known fixes or solutions?

I just went through the same crap with mine. The factory somehow forgot the retainer clips on the pivot shaft, and it walked out to the passenger side, leaving the pedals hanging off center. This caused the bushings to screw up, and a serious galling / sticking problem.

The solution here, was to take the pivot shaft out, pedals, etc. I bought a new plastic bushing, and had a local machine shop build brass bushings to fit. I then used amsoil synthetic grease when re assembling. As well, I drilled the shaft at both ends, and put 90 degree grease fittings in, so in future, should there be a problem, the pivot points will be easy to grease.

This may be overkill for what you want. I think the stock plastic bushings would be fine, if cleaned up and greased properly.

I found the whole process to be a major annoyance, with the truck only having 150,000 km on it. Especially in light of having an 82 chevy with over 500,000 on it, and no problems, with a very similar setup. Oh Well. [laugh]
