Do I have to go to a Dodge dealer to get a replacement key for my 1997 2500 Ram?

Not if you have one to have a new one cut. They are just a standard key,. and most hardware stores can make you new ones.

Moving this to the second gen section as well.

If you need a new lock cylinder and keys, those are available through the aftermarket
