'01 vs '01.5

I see a lot of people distinguishing they have an 01.5 when talking about the year of the truck. I know about 98.5's and 04.5's but what is the difference between the 01 and the 01.5?

CTD NUT 09-07-2005 02:40 PM

01 = rear drums

01.5 = rear discs

micah 09-07-2005 03:09 PM

thanks... guess i got an 01. :(

GlennRMK 09-07-2005 11:42 PM

Also, maybe it was just luck but I didn't see any 01.5 with the 53 block

Ran across quite a few of the early 01s with the 53.

micah 09-10-2005 09:42 AM

what is the 53 block? is that bad or good and what do I do to see if I have it?

JKM 09-10-2005 09:53 AM

Go get a Beer , search "53 Block" , sit back , and read , have more beer on hand, it could take a while to read it all.

Look up KDP while you are at it.

Dr. Evil 09-10-2005 10:04 AM

Quite unlikely that an 01 will have a KDP problem.

I actually tried that before I posted... problem is the search feature ignores the "53" so I just get the word block, which is a pretty popular word around here. I guess I'll keep on searching... unless someone can give me the short version?

micah 09-10-2005 03:41 PM

nevermind... I found some info using google instead...

As I said before "Quite unlikely that an 01 will have a KDP problem." 98, 99, and 2000 24V's should be checked

Thank You Dr. Evil

Let's not forget about all the things Dodge thought you didn't need (atleast on the 02's) such as a hood liner, rear wheel well liners, rear seat cupholders just to name a few.

I SPEED 09-12-2005 05:20 PM

My 01.5 has the rear inner fender liners, but no hood insulation or rear cup holders. Nor does it have the '53' block.

01-24v 09-12-2005 08:56 PM

My 01.5 has a hood liner and rear cup holders.
Rear cup holders pull out behind the center bench near the floor.
