Most likely in your multi function switch or the wiring harness going to it

It's because Dodge tried to save .0001¢ by shorting the wires into the steering column an inch.
If you remove the column cover you'll probably find a tight wire pulled out of it's connector.
The fix is to splice in the extra inch.

One thing I know for sure about these trucks is that wire colors change from year to year.
Only way to know for sure what to look for is to buy a $35 factory service manual here> http://www.genosgarage.com/products.asp?dept=241

You'll probably be able to tell which wire is causing the problem just by jiggling them around. If you do it with the lights on and can make them flicker you'll know when you get to the bad one.

Had similar problem on my 02, checked multifunction switch, found one wire completely off and couple of others not tight on the connectors. Pull wire back in place, made sure all others were seated on the connectors. Cured the problem.

Dash and running lights aren't connected thru steering column, headlights are thru the hi/lo beam switch....

Dash and running lights aren't connected thru steering column, but headlights are. Lo beam shuts off when Hi beam activated, two filaments don't burn at same time...

I had a similar problem with my '95. First fix was to lengthen/replace wires. That fix lasted about 50,000 miles before it happened again. Second fix was to replace the wires I replaced the first time and that fix lasted about 50,000 miles. Third fix was to buy a new wiring harness (just for the under-steering area) from dealer and install it and then I stopped tilting the wheel--I just leave it at about the half-way point.

I had the same issue with my low beam lights when using my tilt steering column. I just fixed mine today. The Purple wire with a White strip was pulled away from the terminal end.

I added about an inch of wire and re-used the original connector.

The low-beams lights now work great with the tilt steering wheel in any location.
