ok i replaced the bulbs in the back and the blinker and the whole switch. still nothing .... was intermittent then stopped all together. ?? totally stumped ....haven't really started probing for voltage but what else could it be???

oh ,, it's a 2000 model 2500 automatic 2 wheel drive..

Test 1st , then replace what is bad only .
Start at the power sources , batteries , fusible links , fuses , relays - not sure on that yr some have 1 relay for both some have 1 relay for each brake & hazard .
Get the test lite out & start at the beginning & do not forget grounds .
