My 2002 is a 4x4, has stock suspension and only 19,000 miles. Earlier this week while pulling my 36' gooseneck Sundowner horse trailer (8000+ lbs) at 60 MPH, I hit a small hole in the road and the front end started wobbling real bad. It continued until I had slowed to about 20 MPH. Any clues to the problem? I am sure it could cause an accident under the right conditions.<br><br>Steve

Probably tire (belt) is out of whack. Had this happen before after hitting large pot hole. It was the rear, but it felt like a driveshaft ready to fall off. A few miles later the belt separated and the rest is history.<br><br>If not tire then alignment went out with the bump, but more likely the tire. Try moving the tire to the rear and see if it changes things. If it does, then get a new tire. If it does not, then check out front end components.<br><br>A mild vibration could be just a rebalance or alignment. From your description, it sounds more like a bad tire, rim, or worse. Your steering stabilizer is shot. For those who don't know, it is a horizontal shock mounted inboard of the right front wheel.<br>Do a search and replace it or soon you will have to clean the stains on the seat of your truck!!

Possibly a combination of things but definately get a good steering stabilizer!!! BTW the steering stabilizer is not easy to replace without a special tool. I had hell and gave up and let my local 4x4 shop finish the job :-[ You can search on here and see what people have done to change theirs.<br><br>James

It is not unlikely that it might also be a bad ball joint. Even though low miles I owned a 2000 1500 series 4x4 and had to replace the ball joints at 23,000 mi. Dodge is notorious for bad ball joints. My $0,000.02
