basic rear wheel brake explanation, sensor is a prox sensor and counts the pulses in a given time to determine decel rate and computer makes the desicions bases on this. many show a fault because they become coated with metal shavings from the rear gears. ok youve changed the sensor but if the speed or tone ring is packed with the same filings comp doent see the expected pulse numbers(out of range fault) or sensor is not being supplied voltage to operate.
rear abs 101. or as stated above signal not reaching comp. 2 or 3 wire sensors
operate different. it may also be possible to check with a 100k pot to simulate varying returns , hook up depends on 2 or 3 wire.

It is a 1996 Dodge Ram Club Cab, 5.9 cummins, 5 speed, with 3.54 gear. I am going to replace the brake light switch today and see if that helps, the cruise would not work until I took the switch out the other day and pulled the plunger out and reset the switch so now the cruise works...but I still have that dang brake light on and ABS light on!

One thing I did notice, the ABS light never goes off or blinks, Once you turn on the truck the light comes on and never blinks or anything. The ABS light and Brake glows all the time. I thought that the ABS would blink going thru a self check? This one does not! Any Ideas?

This is a long shot.
Did you actually look inside the housing when you changed the sensor on the rear axle.
See if the tone ring is still where it belongs.
If the tone ring is not tight against the carrier, you may not be getting the magnetic pulse that it needs due to misalignment.

Be patent, the only way the light is going if is after you go though 50 start cycles or find a dealer with DBR scan tool to remove the code.
You're wasting your time even thinking about anything else, it's just the way the DRB computer system works. What works on '97 plus doesn't work on older trucks.

the dealer hook a DBR scan tool they use on the new trucks to it, said it could not connect,,,,,,also like l said when I turn on the truck it does not flash the abs light, the light is on as soon as I turn the key on and never flashes or anything....IT stays on! Doesn't it suppose to go thru a self test?
