we have an 01 company truck that everyonce in a while wont downshift to first gear after a stop, just takes off real slow in second and sounds terrible. it was taken to the dealer ship a few months ago for this problem and they replaced the injection pump and said that was the problem (also had a death code) but the problem has returned. when it does this it will keep doing untill the next restart and go back to normal.

 

You are getting second gear starts.

It's most likely the governor solenoid in the trans. I would replace the pressure transducer at the same time since they are side by side.

It's an easy fix in the driveway and you must get the parts from Dodge.
