Never heard of anyone working on a VP, VE's yes. Most of the failures in a VP are either the electronics or the plastic diaphragm.

You cant rebuild a VP because they must be calibrated and timed on a Bosch 815 test bench. They even require the exact cog key they come supplied with in order to be perfectly timed. So unless you have one of those half million dollar tools sitting in your garage for such things I would presume attempting to rebuild and have it work correctly is not going to be possible.

Doing a simple Google search you'll find there's only a couple people who've ever tried it. Whether or not they were truly successful is another story. And if the problem is a failed circuit board then a rebuild is a mute point unless you're able to locate one of those too. I'd say the best option is getting a remanufactured VP from a reputable supplier who's known for carrying reliable pumps because the VP has been updated over the past couple decades with better electronics and better components. Also, never buy a VP that isnt guaranteed to have a brand new PSG (computer). Some places offer them with used PSG's for less money but its not worth it since used computers are subject to crystallized solder from heat cycles.
