When is the "lift pump" supposed to operate??
When is the "lift pump" supposed to operate??
98, 24Valve,
The LP turns on about 5 or 10 seconds after I bump the starter.
I was thinking the act of bumping the starter turned on the LP instantly, so am I wrong? or does my computer "decide" something or other??? And then I think it runs for about 20 seconds before it shuts off.?
Am I correct in assuming that if I "start" my truck, the LP then stays on while the truck is running??????

Turn the key to ON and the lift pump should cycle for approximately 2 seconds.
Turn the key to START and only bump the starter and the lift pump should cycle for approximately 25 seconds.
The fuel pump will repeatedly cycle for 25 every time you bump the starter but if the ignition was turned ON/OFF too many times within a very short period, then the fuel pump may not run the 2 second prime cycle.

OK, That sounds better.
So, I guess I can't move fast enough to see if it is running the first 2 seconds or not. I'll have to have my wife turn the key on while I am outside the truck. Thanks,
