Whats happened to 1st gear

My tranny starts out in second gear, I have to manually shift it to first in order for it to go into first. Any suggestions would be great. Im planning to rebuild the trans soon so any suggestions as to what I may want to put in it would be greatly appreciated.

one needs a manual to look at pics of valvebody to see where it is. my bad on the electronics. i dont know if there is a solenoid for the 1-2 valve or not. i do know that if the valve is stuck in the open position it will take off in 2nd gear and will only work in manual low.

Check it for codes set.
It is in limp home mode.
Possible causes, gov. pressure sensor and or transducer, and speed sensor.
