Whats an exhaust backpressure sensor?

I was just checking out one of the advertised web site here and saw something about an exhaust backpressure sensor that can stop the ECM from fueling if it reads to much pressureor is faulty. And it wont reset untill the truck is turned off? They sell the devise that overides this feature. So what the heck is this and better asked, do these truck have this? I believe it was a Dodge Cummins site only, SP diesel.com.

That's a Ford thing. They use one of those flapper valves in the exhaust like on old gasser V-8's as cold start emissions control. One of the functions of the EBP sensor is to keep the motor from getting melted if that valve sticks closed.
