Went from 12v to 24v-got some questions

Just went to a 99 24valve. I have a couple of questions, i know the 53 blocks supposedly suck, but just how big of a problem is it?? mine is one. Do most need to worry or not. Next, are there any maintenance items that i need to know about? Maybe some sorta small screen filter to clean or anything?? Be patient with me for a little bit, got a new engine i don't know that much about.

Click here for a thread that has some of the info you are looking for. I've got 90,000 on mine and it's still going strong,,,,, 53 block and all. I think the general consensus is the 53 block stands a better chance of cracking on heavily modified trucks or ones that haul heavy a lot.

I, too, have a 99 24V with a 53 block. I was VERY worried about it initially but I don't think much about it anymore. Then again, I don't tow 12,000lbs on a daily basis. Nor am I looking to get 500hp out of it.
