Walbro Failure!

I was doing some work on my truck and had the batteries disconnected for a while. While I was unhooking them I dropped a wrench and flashed the positive side of one of the batteries. Didn't seem like any big deal until I got everything hooked up and started the truck. 0 psi fuel pressure! I checked the fuse and relay and everything was ok but still no fuel pressure. I was just starting to have nightmares about a possible ecm failure from the batt short, not sure if that can happen but couldn't thing of anything else. I was about to jump the relay to energize the pump directly when I looked under the truck again and noticed a piece of red wire on the ground. Ah... a clue! Then I remembered our queensland pup under the truck raising hell chasing chipmunks and took a closer look. It seems that he ripped the hot wire off the pump in his frustration at not catching the chipmunk chattering at him from the frame rail. I'm not sure how to protect from frustrated Queenslands. I guess I'll have to move the pump to the top of the cab!!

Misleading title...LOL

How about bending up a chunk of sheetmetal to protect the pump?

Whats the cost of just the pump? $100 or so?

A big mean old barn cat is probably the best answer! Then again maybe a wolf to get rid of the dog... I not sure which pest I want to keep..
Yep, just over $100.
Gary, forget about that bird! Are you ready for a Walbro setup... Your lift pump troubles will go away!

I have never been able to keep a cattle dog pup under control, they want to herd anything that moves.

Barry,
You know, you REALLY had me and probably MANY others really worried with the title of this tread. I was expecting the worst. Good to hear that your only real Walbro trouble was pup-related. And, Dr. Evil is right, a piece of cleverly fabbed sheet metal should serve double duty as a muck AND pup shield.

Hah, Hah, No worries, the Walbro is still giving me 14-16 no matter what I do!
As for the pup he's on his way to my son.. It was actually his dog in the first place. He was kind of like a red headed step child - he drove me nuts but I'm really gonna miss him when he's gone!

I can see it now, "The Pup Protector"

Every Walbro owner needs one!

Well, I could imagine a lot more damage than a torn wire if you tried to scare away the chipmunk with your 12 gauge
