VP 44 test to see if it's dead
Looks like my VP 44 is toast. Good news is that I have 156,000 miles. Before I buy a $1000.00 plus pump is there a test I can do to make sure it's the high pressure pump. It just began to have hard starting and it will only start if it's cold, when it heats up it won't start. It hasn't thrown any codes.
Thanks
Peter

I have been looking at new lift pumps, fass and airdog.....and when reading their manuals I saw something interisting that may apply to your case.....look at page 4 hard start heading

crack 3 hp lines, then crank the engine. if no fuel flows the pump is bad, there is no way to tell which line the rotor stops on hence the need to crack 3 lines. hard to start when hot is a very good indicator of a bad ip.
