Tate-I will have to look at the plate also I guess.
AggieJustin came over Saturday and we checked codes and fuel pressures and my vp44 is definately going out. (p0216) My LP pressures were all in the acceptable limits, but after all this I will relocate my LP and upsize my fuel line as well as revisit the 3guage setup vs. the Commander for my next expenditure.
I also showed Justin the dealer print out and according to him it does show the SO engine code but as I mentioned previously the text next to the code states HO CTD.
Now -I am still hoping for more responses to my HVRP vs SO pump purchase.
I would like to know from all that have the HVRP and limited mods like me (superchips Dbox, same as an edged EZ) if they feel it helped out on throttle response, fuel economy and of course noticable HP increase. Like Black diesel said...that 700.00 is a lot more for what it seems to give you in return. If I could get better low end throttle respnse on this 5spd it would almost be worth it!
Thanks ALL!

Should have mentioned ID plate on engine to identify engine model/rating etc. This will show up on dealers records only, IF all work was done there.
So if ANY changes were done to trans/engine etc. at some other shop(other than a DC dealer), it won't show up on the dealerships vin records, other than what truck came equipped with from the factory, and any updates/repairs done at any DCdealer only.

The brochure I picked up in '99 for the 2000 model trucks mentioned a H.O. option available for M.Y. 2000. According to the dealer at the time I ordered, it was delayed and not available. I knew from the beginning I got a 2000 S.O., but ordered with the 6 speed. I have a somewhat rare truck. A S.O. 6 speed. Would have rather had the H.O., but prefer the clutch that came with my S.O., it is supposed to be more durable. Than those with the later 2001's and beyond 6 speed H.O.'s.

Your VIN number should tell you straight out. The 8th character in the VIN number is the engine identifier. If you have a 6 in that position, your truck was equipped with a standard output 5.9L Cummins, if it's a 7 in that position, it was a high output 5.9L. Also, check the CPL # on the engine tag. It will tell you what ENGINE you actually have under the hood. If your CPL# is 2415, then the engine is a high output. If the CPL# is 2904, then it's a standard output. Both of these CPL numbers are for 2001 model trucks. The high output version of the Cummins (ETH) was made available in the 2001 year model and that is supported by the CPL listed above. If your engine does not have that number on it, then it's probably not a HO. Hope this helps.
Also, if the CPL# is 2662 or 2663, both those numbers correspond to STANDARD OUTPUT year 2000 model manual tranny trucks.

If your vp is failing and you want more power I don't see why not get the hot rod version. As far as I can tell mine added 80 hp. Like BD said you could buy a so pump and injectors instead. Fuel is fuel- either way is fine
