The seals look like piston rings with a closed end gap.
The tolerances are pretty close too.

Sorry upersleder, I merely did a copy/paste of 'Infidel's' earlier posted turbo rebuild recommendation. I just filed the turbo info, in case I too needed a turbo rebuild...I did not verify the prices.

To his credit, with thousands of posts, mostly in the 12 Valve category, Infidel's advice has been nothing short of amazing.
