Turbine size? HX35W Holset Turbo

What is the stock Turbine size on the HX35W? How do I know what turbine size I have?
Did they use the HX35W on the 6.7Liter Dodge Ram?
Reason why I ask, is I acquired a HX35W off of a Cummins that was an industrial 6.7L Cummins that was not running correctly. The mechanic thought the turbo was bad and replaced it. Turns out he was wrong. I don't know what was wrong, all I know was they pulled the engine and replaced it with a completely new engine. The old engine with the new turbo, well lets say a different turbo was installed on that engine before it went back to Cummins.

The 6.7 liter Cummin that came in Rams has a variable vane turbo with a bg electronic controller on the side to control the wastegate among other things?

The HX35 we have were not used on light duty 6.7's.

I'm sure someone with alot more knowledge than me will chime in and give you more info.

On the other hand, if its bigger than your current HX and has a mechanical wastgate? Its JUNK and I'll take it off your hands......... [roll][laugh]

My truck has the HY35 turbo. The compressor appears to be the same size, but there is a major size difference in turbine size. I looked at a friends truck with a stock HX35 and there is a big difference from what he has and what I've acquired. What I was told (by a mechanic, not sure if he knows what he's talking about) this turbo builds boost at a lower RPM and continues to hold it better throughout the RPM range. From what I've read on Geno's, I might be better off keeping my HY35.
My plan and I'm not sure if I'm its the right combo, is to install the turbo a set of 50hp or 75hp DDP injectors along with Quadzilla programmer to change timing and fuel input along with exhaust and cold air filter system.
Anyone with knowledge on Holsets please give up some of your knowledge before I install this industrial HX35 turbo on my truck and burn the engine up.

I don't know if the turbo will work for you or not but I have read a lot of threads about guys wondering if going from the hy35 to the hx35 makes any difference. Some say yes some say no. Last week I picked up an hx and put it in. I dropped 200-250 degrees when pulling. Unbelievable difference.

Nice to hear an 'after' report on this changout.
I always believed the difference would be well worth it. Most, including myself, skip the HX-35 and have gone direct to something bigger. But the earlier autos (2000 and earlier) that came with HX-35's have been able to stay with them at some fairly high HP levels.

How heavy do you tow, and at what settings?
