TRUXUS TIRES

I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU FOLKS KNOW ABOUT A NEW SET OF TIRES I HAVE BEEN TRYING. I AM A TIRE DEALER, & DECIDED TO TRY THE NEW INTERCO TRUXUS TIRES IN A 10 PLY 33-12.50X16. THEY SUCK!! TO PUT IT MILDLY. I GUESS INTERCO NEVER BOTHERED TRYING TO MAKE A ROUND TIRE.I GUESS ENGINEERS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO THEM OR SOMETHING. AS BIG A COMPANY AS INTERCO IS, IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THEY COULD MAKE A ROUND TIRE INSTEAD OF EGG-SHAPED ONES. ALSO, ON A 2500 LIKE MINE, THE 10 PLY IS JUST TOO MUCH TIRE. WHEN I PUT THE REQUIRED 65LBS. OF AIR IN THEM, THE TRUCK DARTS ALL OVER THE ROAD. DROPPED BACK TO 55 LBS. & SOLVED THAT PROBLEM. THESE TIRES LOOK GOOD, BUT THEY SUCK FOR PERFORMANCE. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE, BUY SOMETHING ELSE.

I didn't have much better luck with the Trxux STS in the 33's. I got about 13000 miles out of them before they were pretty much bald.

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

Thats some interesting info. because several people have been talking about those very tires on here. They look good, come in big sizes, and are E-rated...I guess thats why there is the interest.

I dont think Interco has ever been known for building good highway tires....Ive also heard that they can be pretty hit and miss when it comes to quality. I suppose they'd be ok on a gas rig...but a diesel is a different story.

My brother has a set of these tires in 35 on a 1/2 ton ford. He really likes them and I can't see any wear on them yet, has had them for a year. I think that they are great tires for mudding and the such, but these are on his daily drive and I haven't heard him complain any about how they perform or wear.

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

there is a whole lot of weight difference between a 1/2 ton and a CTD....

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

I was thinking of these as an option on my rig, so I emailed the company awhile back. Basically they told me it was a good tire for 1/2 ton trucks, but not for larger 3/4 ton trucks. Notice that their weight limit on their 10 ply tire is over 500 pounds less than the 8 ply BFG!

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

i agree with beavermike. i have a set of these tires and i hate them. ive had them for less than a year with only about 10000 miles on them and they are pretty much flat bald right now. my truck also wandered all over the road with them at 65 psi.

my opinion is that interco should stick to doing what it does best, making large mt's. i have 3 friends (2 with 36" and 1 with 38") TSL swampers who are extremely pleased with teh performance of their tires.

guess i just picked the wrong type of tire....

Hey Marine,

Run some of those Bridgestone REVO's in say...285/75/16, and let me know how they do.

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

DO ANY OF YOU FELLOWS HAVE AN OPINION ON THE PARNELLI JONES TIRES? I MET A MAN THE OTHER DAY THAT HAD A RADICAL LOOKING 1999 GASBURNER WITH THEM. THEY LOOKED PRETTY GOOD, ESPECIALLY AFTER HE TOLD ME HE HAD BEEN RUNNING THEM FOR 3 YEARS. HE DID ONLY HAVE ABOUT 35000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. HE DID SAY THAT THEY WERE EXTREMELY STIFF.SO STIFF IN FACT HE COULD RUN 4 LBS. OF AIR IN THE REARS & NOT BREAK THE BEAD. I THINK THAT IS TOO STIFF. I THINK I AM GOING TO TRY SOME BFG M/T'S OR THIS RADICAL LOOKING TIRE THAT YOKAHOMA HAS. I DON'T HAVE BUT AROUND 3000 MILES ON MY TRUXUS. ONE IS IN GOOD SHAPE, ONE ALMOST GONE,& TWO HALFASSED WORE OUT. ANYONE WHO SAYS THEY HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH THEM, DON'T TRY THEM AGAIN. I WILL GUARANTEE YOU WON'T GET THE SAME RESULT TWICE. THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE RUN THE BFG MT'S, HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM. HOW IS THE RIDE & HOW MANY MILES CAN I GET OUT OF THEM? DO THEY BALANCE GOOD? I AM GOING TO TRY TRUING MY INTERCO'S ONE MORE TIME. IF THAT FAILS TO PRODUCE A BETTER RIDE, THEN I GUESS MY CATFISH CAN LAY EGGS IN THEM. LOL!! [laugh]

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

ONE OTHER TIRE I FORGOT TO MENTION IS THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER ATS. I PUT 205OOO MILES ON 3 SETS OF THEM. ON TOP OF THAT, I AM CONSIDERING PUTTING MY LAST SET BACK ON, IF I CAN'T GET THE TRUXUS STRAIGHTENED OUT. THE GY'S REALLY WORK WELL, I JUST WANTED THE TOUGHER LOOK OF THE TRUXUS. I HAD TO SACRIFICE GOOD RIDE THOUGH.

The Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips are supposed to be excellent tires...

Other options are the Nittos....have you seen the new Nitto Mud Grappler??

Re:TRUXUS TIRES

YES I ACTUALLY SAW THE NITTOS JUST THE OTHER DAY. THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING THAT I WOULD WANT ON MY TRUCK, BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION.
