Suggestions for IAT removal
Re:Suggestions for IAT removal
Hey, thanks for the suggestions/discussion, everyone. I finally got the IAT out (and in again), by using a special tool. A "biotool" with special A.I. capabilities -- very sophisticated and expensive. His name is Tim, and he's my nine-year-old son. He was small enough to slither into the engine compartment from underneath and place a socket & wrench on the IAT. Then his old man turned it out from above.
I've told Tim he can't get any bigger for as long as I own the truck.

Re:Suggestions for IAT removal
You can warm it up or cool it down, but the resistance has to be measured at a certain temp to read a certain resistance. You should measure it, raise or lower temp, then measure at original temp to see if it returns to the same reading. However, if it is out of spec at first reading, why bother with the rest?

I would use a microwave and a glass of water to regulate the temp. Use a thermeter to get the temp where you want it and take your readings from there. Use ice to cool....i think that would work lil better than an oven.
Re:Suggestions for IAT removal
If I remember correctly the reason some people have moved the IAT is to gain a little more HP, not to make it easier to clean. If you relocate it to the air filter the engine will always thing its getting colder (more dense air) and will add a little more fuel.. ie you will get worse mileage.
