Sugar in Fuel?

So My brothers truck has been actting funny. Spittin and Spudderin, all that good stuff. We thought that it was the injector pump. So we pulled off the fuel filter and found sugar in the filter. I know how bad it is in a gasser and I know its not good but how bad is it? What all should we check to make sure all of it is out (other than the tank)?

Sugar will not dissolve in gasoline, I do not believe it will dissolve in diesel either. It just clogs everthing like sand would, screens, filters, injectors.

Sugar is a crystal without mixing with anything. Mythbusters did an episode and debunked the sugar in the gas tank myth. It will not harm a gas or diesel engine. As stated, the worst it can do is clog filters.

That is "Criminal Mischief" in most jurisdictions. If you can find out who did it, and get them into court, they will find out it isn't so funny after all.
Report the incident to the law.

Are you sure it's sugar?

Did you give it the ol' taste test?

Phox, I am sure once being in a tank of diesel, whatever it is would taste just like diesel!

Though I am sure if you tried chewing on it, that might be a whole nother story.

Better purchase a locking fuel cap if he's that unlikable!!! You wouldn't want to have to clean it up again, and whoever did it is probably driving by chuckling to themselves as you work.

Locking fuel cap only way to go these days. Have them on the T&C and the truck. The one on the T&C the igniton key unlocks it. No more fuel losses

You know what I do? I turn the cap level one way so the grip on the cap is perfectly horizontal because when a person will put something in the tank then they most likely wont leave it turned the same way.

If you know what i mean then always keep that in mind when you put fuel in then you will know if you leave it somewhere that if the cap was tampered with it. I do that to all my caps in all my vehicles in case some one would move the oil fill cap for example. I will tell because I turn it a certain way and mark the cap along with the valve cover with white out or a white marker. Just turn the tank cap always to a 180 degree angle or horizontal in another words that will help out somewhat.

They do it so fast without thinking that they just turn it on anyway usually to an angle.
