Slight loss of mpg and power

I just hand calculated that I got 14mpg this last tank of fuel. Half of the tank was used pulling an excavator by my dad, so I expect a drop in mpg, but I also think I have been slowly loosing mileage since I bought er. The other day I started the truck after waiting for the wait to start. It was about 40 degrees out and fired right up, but a small cloud of white smoke was generated and also kept smoking for the first 1/8 mile down the road. What does white smoke mean?

My LP died a few months back and I found this out by running out of fuel. I suspect my VP is the culprit for my diminishing performance. Anything else I should check? Should I have a dealer check for codes?

You should check for codes. Mine did the same deal. Lost tons of power, the VP was the culprit. Make sure ALL of your filters and fluids are clean as well. You will also see a differance when it warms up due to the fact it take awile to get up to operating temp.

Engine adds more fuel in colder temps to get the engine up to operating temp faster.
