Hey I dont want to sound like a bonehead, but what the heck is a silencer ring and exactly where is it located? Thanks

 

Inlet to the turbo.

Round chunk of sheet metal blocking off half the airflow.

Remove it and you get some more turbo whistle.

Take a look HERE or do a search and you will find tons of threads on the subject.
Removing it isn't hard and the only thing you get by doing so is a little more turbo whistle.

Mine has been gone since the 2nd day after I brought it home from the dealer.

 

Its a ring in your turbo that quites down the whine.
It can be removed in about 6 minutes with a straight blade screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
There are hundreds of knowledgable guys on here that are happy to help.
(I'm not one of them, I just absorb)
