shifting problems

shifting problems

i have a 01 2500 4x4 5.9 while im driving at about 55 plus and hit bumps in the road my truck will drop a gear or two and go back into overdrive then back and forth what could the problem be .i just had the tranny rebuilt too

this would go better in the 2nd gen forum but i'd start with grounding the tps and checking all grounds or adding more grounds, also sounds like a loose connection,

i am having trouble with my truck when im driving in overdrive and hit a bump it will drop down and start going back and forth what could it be my truck is a 01 dodge 2500 4x4 24 valve and i also just had the tranny rebuilt

That Truck has an apps sensor they are famous for going out. Could BC or some one move this to the right area.

ok i checked all grounds and everything was tight i unplugged my chip i have a torch dog on it its weird i unplug it and it shifts perfect then it will go back to acting up so i just plug it back up so today when i checked everything i unplugged it again and now it is working fine . where do i locate the apps sensor to check it

Also check the brake peddle!
If it is bouncing it will unlock the converter, which a lot of people think is OD!!
Hold your foot behind the peddle lifting it and go drive over the bumps.

If it works good without the chip then leave the sensor alone, there is nothing wrong with it. The problem is with the chip.

i tried to go to work this morning and it wouldnt even go had to power only drive bout 30 mph so when i got home i reset the apps and took it off and unplugged it and wiped the connections off and went to drive it seems to be working fine now. now i guess time will tell if it is fixed .thanks for the help

I have seen this over and over ,Just last week had a 99 in the shop doing the wierd shifting. the batteries were new optima red tops and connections looked clean. I cleaned the 4 bat, posts and the body grounds . problem is gone .
