Replaced Transmission

Well I replaced my NV-4500 last week when it bombed on the way back from a boar hunt in Texas. I had to swap the shift tower over from the old transmission to get it to fit. I am now running into the same hard to shift situation I had with the old transmission. I was wondering if a little assembly lube on the tower components and shifter would help out or if something else is in the works. When the transmission is cold shifting into second gear for the first time it will slam into gear vice a smooth shift. I wouldn't expect this from a new transmission. Any advice would be appreciated.

I dont deal much with standards, but the wrong gear lub will cause hard shifting, I think your tranny calls for syncromesh gear oil. also hard shifts will happen if the clutch is not releasing fully (bad clutch slave or master cyl), some of the tranny guru's should chime in

I used the liquid gold from the dealership at 27 dollars a quart at almost 8 quarts for the transmission and transfer, so I don't think its that. I have the heavy duty slave and master cylinder from south bend, so hopefully that's not the culprit. I notice that the shift assemly was fairly hard to change gears when I had the transmission apart, so I'm gonna try some assembly lube to see if that helps. I wish I didn't have to drop the transmission to take the top assembly off. [verymad]

just curious if you double clutch will the tranny shift into second easier?

Double clutching has no effect on the shift into second.
