Rebuild Tranny On My Own or NEW????
Rebuild Tranny On My Own or NEW????
The dilemma, sooner or later I am going to need a new tranny, I thinking about rebuilding a core that I can get from my friend or buying a new one from either TCS, Suncoast, etc...
It definitely would be cheaper to rebuild it on my own, even though I have never done it, I have some people that will definitely help out, if I go this route what kits would be best, and what components?
Has anyone done it before, if so what problems did you encounter.
Then the other route just to go buy a new one.
I am eventually looking to make roughly 400 hp with my truck, it is a daily driver, so I don't need a out tranny, just able to hold up to that # and maybe a little more.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, thats the whole idea, it is a killer to drop all that money at once on a tranny when i can spread it out over a month,
What problems could I run into,
any other thoughts folks?

If I was in the same situation and had the time. I'd build it myself. cost of tools is nothing compared to cost of a new tranny.
this is of course you are a pretty good mechanic... I've never done a tranny. but my logic is anything on your truck is designed for someone to service.
