Purple Tranny And Converter
got my ATS tranny installed a week ago Monday at my Chrysler dealer (had the ATS boys send it out with a triple lock converter from Denver).
Left monday at 4:30 in the afternoon with my grandson towing my 40" gooseneck with 4 Horse buggys. Dropped one in Oklahoma one in Colorado and two in western Montana got back early this afternoon (tuesday) I was OK with the tranny when it was installed but a little perplexed about the big "difference " between this tranny and the original one , but the money was spent and i had to get on the road. By the time i dropped the second buggy off, just a little west of peablo colorado i was getting worried and depressed with this tranny. the truck could not hardly pull itself from a standing stop but after i got the speed up to 50 mph or so it took off and run ok. we stopped and got a room and called Joel at ATS first thing the next morning. after a few good morning pleasantries i told him what was going on and his reply was --we are just a few miles off the interstate in the direction we were heading (130 miles north of where we were) , that i would have cell service all the way from where i was until i got to him. that if i had any problems call him and he would get me there. well we made it all the way and were met by them nearly before i got out of the truck. Clint got in the truck, drove it around the block and back to the shop. he got out of the truck and said to one of the workers "bad ?? valve". the truck was IMMEADIATLY taken into their shop a new valve body installed and out in 20 minutes. Now i am impressed!! this truck will snap your head back when you accelerate and it doesn't matter what gear i am in! while i was there Joel gave me the grand tour showing me how they build and test these trannies. if any of you guys ever have the opprotunity to stop in their shop do it, absolutly fantastic. Joel had nothing but praise for Jack Thorpe by the way. |
Finally a "good news" story for you Herb. I'm happy for you!
Congrats! BTW, where is their shop? |
Good to hear that you finally got your truck running right. Are you impressed? Alot better then the 318 isn't it. Glad to hear that they were so helpfull to you. Are you still thinking about selling the truck? Just kidding! I hope that this truck runs forever for you.:)
